Emily Traphagen Park- Opened to the public in 2003, the Emily Traphagen Park is a testament to the truly stunning beauty of Ohio wilderness. Featuring lush forest, beautiful wetlands, ponds, meadows, and more, Emily Traphagen Park is the perfect place to bring your little ones to learn about nature and conservationism. There are countless animals that call this park home, from mallards and kingfishers to white-tailed deer and groundhogs, it’s truly a wonderful time.
Zoombezi Bay- As most Powell residents already know, Zoombezi Bay is the best way to cool off in the summer. This expansive waterpark has dozens of attractions and is enough to keep even the most distractible child entertained. Between the lazy river, towering slides, and private cabanas, you’ll consider a season pass after just one visit.
Scioto Grove Metropark- Scioto is 620 acres of pure bliss. Nestled along the Scioto river, these mature forests, scenic bluffs, and undisturbed wilderness is the perfect place to get away from it all for a little while. Featuring more than seven miles of walking and hiking trails, picnic areas, shelters, grills, kids’ play area and multiple overlook decks, it’s a spectacular way to spend an afternoon. Also perfect for kayakers, canoeists, and birdwatchers, you can easily find your own little spot of nature.
Columbus Zoo & Aquarium- Though named after Columbus, the world-famous zoo and aquarium is located right here in Powell. Whether you’re going with a few friends or the whole family, the Zoo is a great way to get out in the sun. But that’s not all! If it gets too hot, you can always go into the aquarium and cool down.
Nocterra Brewing Company- Nocterra is hands down one of the most beautiful breweries in Ohio. Featuring a sweeping outdoor sitting area, fantastic menu and constantly rotating tap of the freshest beers, Nocterra is a great way to spend an afternoon. Ballantrae Community Park- If you’re looking for a great way to cool off that isn’t a public pool, check out Ballantrae Community Park! Not only is it a beautiful outdoor space that’s perfect for picnics and other outdoor activities, but it’s also hiding a great way to cool down. Behind several oversized hares are dozens of spray fountains! Your kids will love splashing around in these alternating fountains and will beg to come back every other hot day this summer.
