Fun Out-of-The Box Activities to do Before Summer is Over
With the kids not yet back at school and summer camps coming to a close for the summer, it can be hard to find things to do to keep entertained. Even for adults, coming up with weekend activities as we start to move towards fall can be quite difficult.
If your weekend calendar is wide open and you’re in need of something fun to do, try out one of these out-of-the-box activities before the summer is over!
eXcape Columbus Escape Room
The new trend in “what should we do today” are escape rooms. If you haven’t heard about escape rooms, they are a physical adventure game in which players solve a series of puzzles and riddles using clues, hints, and strategy to complete the objectives at hand. Players are given a set time limit to unveil the secret plot which is hidden within the rooms.
From themes ranging from medieval to outer space, you’ll be sure to find an escape room that peaks your interest. Grab a couple friends and head over to the eXcape Columbus Escape Room and try your luck at escaping the room.
Columbus Axe Throwing
Channel your inner lumberjack with this new, exciting activity. At Columbus Axe Throwing, groups of about twelve are taught how to properly (and safely!) throw an axe before being placed into teams and competing in various competitions.
Groups of all sizes are encouraged to come; smaller groups are paired together–which makes this a great way to meet other people around your neighborhood! Walk-ins are also welcome pending availability, so you’ll be able to get your axe throwing on even if it’s last-minute.
Kingmakers Board Game Parlour is your destination in the Short North for settling in with friends for an exciting evening filled with board games, beer, and pretzels. While you can’t bring in your own board games, the parlor is equipped with seemingly unlimited titles for you to choose from. If you’re unsure of how to play one of the games, the Kingmakers “Sommeliers” (helpful game-lovers) are there to teach you and offer guidance on any game.
Refreshments of all kinds are served at the parlor, so whether your group is ready for boozy board games or a more relaxed coffee and chess night, Kingmakers is the place for you!
Coliseum X Extreme Laser Tag
Coliseum X welcomes walk-ins and reservations for individuals and groups to play at the largest indoor laser tag facility in Ohio. Whether you’re looking simply for recreation or hosting a bachelor(ette) party, Coliseum X is the ideal place to go! With over 50 different combat missions, multiple urban-themed arenas and a large selection of weapon models, you’re sure to have a different experience every time you go.
If the action gets to be too much for you, Coliseum X has a comfortable reception area with free WiFi, and refreshments for purchase. There’s also a Live Video Feed for each of the arenas, so you can keep up with the missions while recharging.
